Gandhi hospital has about 170 yrs glorious history, It is 2nd Oldest in Telangana and 7th Oldest in India
Started as an Infirmary of 3 wards in the year 1851
Developed into a Cantonment Hospital with 95 beds in 1900.
Progressed to King Edward Memorial Hospital in 1913.
Gandhi Medical College was established in 1954.
Gandhi Medical College was recognized by MCI in 1956.
Grown into a teaching hospital in 1958 for Gandhi Medical College.
Presently with operational bed strength of 2200, it is a premier institution of Post-doctoral medical education and training which is fulfilling the medical and health requirements of not only Telangana state but also the neighboring states of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Chhattisghar.
Gandhi hospital has distinction of being the first open heart surgery centre of the combined state of Andhra Pradesh and the first to have Cathlab facilities for training of DM cardiology students.
